About

Kira is a Director based in Brooklyn, New York. She first discovered her joy for storytelling while earning her B.M. at Berklee College of Music. She continued her education by completing apprenticeships at The Juilliard School, The Santa Fe Opera, Wolf Trap Opera, and Boston Ballet. Kira feels her largest purpose in life is to help physicalize known work in a new context, paving the way to hold new conversations between audience and artist.

“The conversations we are having with our communities / audiences should always be at the forefront of our minds as creatives.”

This past summer Kira stepped into the role of AOTVA Assistant Director at The Aspen Music Festival, working as the Assistant Director on Midsummer Night’s Dream and Die Zauberflöte. This fall she is most excited to be joining the team at Opera Philadelphia as the Assistant Director on Suddenly, Last Summer. When at home in New York, she enjoys spending her time working at The Juilliard School. Kira’s other recent credit’s include The Atlanta Opera, The Glimmerglass Opera, Curtis Institute, and Yale.

Kira is also the Artist Director and Founder of Modernized Opera Initiative. M.O.I. (pronounced mwah) is a collective of early career artists seeking to recontextualize and reinvigorate the opera canon. They closed their inagural production of La voix humaine in Janurary 2026.
